Malawi
today drew with Nigeria 1-1 in the World Cup 2014 qualifiers at the
Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre in a dramatic finish to the game as both
goals came in the last minutes of the game.
In
a match that was heading for a goalless draw Ruben Gabriel thought he
had won it for Nigeria when he headed home the goal in the 89th minute,
but Malawi's John Banda equalised three minutes later in what was the
last kick of the game.
Malawi
now have 2 points in the group and Nigeria have 4 points. Malawi drew
the first game in the qualifiers against Kenya while Nigeria beat
Namibia 1-0.
The
next World Cup qualifier games are in March next year, but Malawi has
another game next week against Chad and Nigeria faces Rwanda in the
African Cup.
Malawi has to win the game against Chad otherwise they will be out of the contention for a place in the finals for the 2013 A
